Pocket of Fools Theatre brings GCSE curriculum texts to life in schools through our unique and engaging approach. Remaining faithful to the author's original words and intentions, we add the distinctive Pocket of Fools touch, making these classic works accessible, exciting, and relevant to modern audiences.
With memorable characters, dynamic performances, and imaginative storytelling, students gain a deeper understanding of key quotes, plot points, themes, and stage directions, helping them feel confident and prepared for their upcoming exams.
Following each performance, we offer a comprehensive Question and Answer session. Our experienced actors have extensive knowledge of the texts and have undertaken in-depth research into the plays, examination requirements, and the types of questions students are likely to encounter in their GCSE assessments.

Charles Dickens classic ‘A Christmas Carol’ is the quintessential Representation of the Christmas Spirit in the UK. Follows the story of the mean money lender Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited 4 ghost in their endeavour to save his mortal soul, by teaching him the true meaning of Christmas. This show is told through the Original language of the acclaimed 19th century writer Charles Dickens and covers themes, Redemption, Community, Greed, Social injustice, Time and Christmas spirit.
It takes the audience back in time to the, “foul and narrow... wretched...slipshod, ugly” streets of London. In this “Cold, bleak, biting weather: foggy withal" tale with wit, energy and dynamic creative story telling. This promises to be a show the students will remember.
“Two households both alike in dignit”… Romeo and Juliet is the Shakespeare classic tragic tale of love, whirling romance, family feuds and death. We follow a pair of “star-crossed lovers” as they face the trials and tribulations of young love. Time, duality and fate all play a part in their doomed relationship. Set amongst the Rose buds and turnips of the Veronan allotment.
Our unique Innovative style, memorable characters and expert grasp and understanding of the language; combined with comedy and faced pace energy; keeps the action alive and makes it relatable and brings relevance to an old story, for new generations today.

Adaptable to any space
Suitable for audiences of any size – no minimum or maximum numbers.
We provide all our own set, costumes, backdrop, and props, making the production completely self-contained. No specific stage lighting is required
Only a standard electrical socket is needed for our sound system
Actors will arrive a minimum of 45 minutes before the performance to allow time for setup.
At the end of the show, approximately 30 minutes will be required to pack away props, set , and costumes.
The production team consists of three actors, all of whom hold enhanced DBS certificates. Copies of their DBS certificates, along with photographs and IDs, will be provided in advance.
We require access to a parking space close to the venue to enable the actors to load and unload.
